so last year state senator leland yee whose district includes san francisco introduced legislation that would get around or sort of close this loophole and expand our semi-automatic weapon ban to include guns like this. that failed in the appropriations committee. on friday, when these shootings happened, leeland lee said we'll reintroduce the legislation as soon as we reconvene in january of 2013. >> this is a lot of political talk but what are the chances that this actually passes? >> actually good. it was fleshed out very well in the last session. the democrats are vastly supermajority as we know in the assembly and in the senate. we have a governor who is very sympathetic to this. the political will is there and not only that, but i think state legislatures all over the state will be going in this direction. everyone is looking at the obama administration and dianne feinstein but the truth is right here in california, in a democratic-controlled state legislature throughout the country in colorado, illinois, connecticut, and in massachusetts, i think we'll see a lot of activity. peop
